Feeling motivated..

I got this mail a couple of days back, thought of sharing. It would be nice to have her pic as well here, anyway will check with her. In the meantime see what she has to say about her experience.

I am Sushmita and a mother of 10 year old daughter. I have always been a great admirer of chemical free beauty products and used to make many such remedies for myself and friends during collage days. I am also allergic to parabens in creams and lotions. They made my skin more sun sensitive. But as life’s responsibilities increased I got less and less time for my skin care resulting in dull, uneven toned skin with small spots starting. I tried many on the counter remedies which did more harm than good. I came to know about Deepika from a Facebook group and wrote to her as I knew that only homemade fresh and chemical free products can help restore my skin. She called me and asked about my skin problems and sent over custom made products which had cleanser toner, serum and scrubs. I stopped using soap as she advised and started using her cleanser. I noticed the difference in a day as my skin felt smooth and soft. The serum containing essential oils was perfectly absorbed by my skin and it glowed in the morning. It’s been 15 days since and it’s even toned now. One point I would like to mention is I keep all of the products in refrigerator as it maintains the freshness and the nutrients of the serum.
I am a physicist turned a green living advocate and I would like to say that anything which is kept on shop shelves with an expiry of several months is not a herbal product anymore as it contains chemicals to preserve it. Even the simple rosewater contains all the parabens i(check the label). Such chemicals harm our bodies as well as the environment by entering the waterways. I would like to recommend Deepika’s products as they are harmless to environment as well.

Look who we have here with us..another guest

Its been quite sometime i posted a blog. Here's to new beginning and what better beginning than with someone who motivated me to pursue this passion.

I've known Sangeeta for over 10years from my college days. It was just a budding thought that i discussed with her during one of your ladies day. She motivated and showed belief in my idea. She was the one to say yes you can do it and do it well. Thanks for being so supportive Sangeeta.

One thing i've always liked about her is that she's straight forward and doesn't mince words. She's always given me honest feedback be it quantity, or pricing. Her opinion means a lot to me as it helped me make the products better. Now getting to the point without wasting time. Over to Sangeeta!

Hi friends I am sangeeta who is a mother of 4 year old baby girl. I am sure every mom feels special when they get compliments from their  husbands, children, friends, relatives.  With this busy lifestyle I really try to maintain my skin with some homemade products

What do I do for living?
By profession I am a high school teacher and as all of u know teaching is really a tough job and a big responsibility so  hardly I used to get time to take care of my skin and  I started having some problem on my skin like patches, rashes , breakouts  almost lost my glow and my skin became very sensitive to the cosmetic products also so, I was looking for some homemade products which will be convenient to use….

My beauty regime….When I came to know that Deepika makes some homemade beauty products I immediately ask suggestions from her. She has really guided me with her products which I usually use at night before going to bed…morning time I use sunscreen.

My favourite products of Deepika’s are:
1. Cleansing
2. Face serum
3. Face wash
.
The above products have helped me to get my glow back. The product which helped me recently is the face wash, I suddenly developed some red  patches on my cheeks  I tried many things on my face but all were in vain…no moisturiser was getting absorbed by my skin it was that bad condition then using the face wash for two weeks regularly day and night I got the result. My skin was clear like before..
So,  I would  like to suggest the readers that the above three products u must try and you will feel the
difference.

What more I am looking forward to?
Some product which will help the tanning problems…

Lip and cheek stain

There's something so appealing and youthful about flushed cheeks and rosy lips. Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with a perpetual glow and just-bitten-looking lips.

During my college days I had chronic dry lips. It took forever for the dryness to go away. I used lip balms which kept lips hydrated till it stayed. I began using a concotion of oils for overnight treatment and it helped to a large extent. My love for lip balms remained as they were more convenient to use. People who know me, know my love for lip balms. You'll never find me without one. I have one near my desk at work, my handbag, in bathroom. Can't live without it. Sadly even the tinted lip balms don't satisfy me for the color.

I had a few lipsticks lying around as i hardly use lipsticks cos they dry my lips. I googled for some ideas and came up with a lip cum cheek stain which i'm going to review here. I've been using it for over a month and not missed my lipsticks. I plan to make more in different colors, shall update this page as and when i do.

Note: It's not all natural as the lipstick used here is regular. However other ingredients used are all natural.

Benefits:
  • Contains shea butter, olive oil and Vit E.
  • Keeps lips hydrated, makes them smooth and supple.
  • Just a tint ensures natural stain which doesn't looks made up.
  • Can be used on lips and cheeks as well for natural stain.
  • Pigmentation can be tuned to requirement. Repeated application for deeper color. Refer swatch.
  • Stays on for more than 3 hours.
  • Less chemicals.
  • Easy to carry, leak-proof.
  • Customised color and consistency.
  • Use your unwanted bright lipsticks.

How to use

Step 1: Choose the right stain
Pick a shade that compliments your skin tone. Keep in mind that stain in bottle looks darker than on your skin.

Step 2: Prep your skin
Wash your face with a cleanser to slough off dead skin, which will help even out skin tone. Then, apply a light moisuturizer all over your face.

Step 3:  Apply stain
Use your fingertips or a makeup sponge and smile as you blend the color onto the apples of your cheeks. . Let it dry. Reapply if you need more color.
For lips, apply evenly with index finger. Reapply whenever necessary.

Night skin care routine

We all know we should wash our face at night and remove any makeup before going to bed. But did you know your nighttime routine can affect how your skin looks the next day?

The benefits of a night skin care routine include improving skin tone and color, reducing skin blemishes, and hydrating and rejuvenating the skin. Establishing a night skin care routine will allow the skin to breathe, heal, and restore to a healthy young glow.

Here is the basic 4-step skincare regime which will help you glow. The products are all natural, organic and home-made.

Step 1: Cleansing
If you wear make up, the first step is to use a quality make-up remover to remove make up. You can use the oil based serum here which gently removes make-up. To cleanse face gently massage cleanser into the skin. Wash your face and neck with warm water and rinse off thoroughly. Here's more about the product Cleanser

Step 2: Exfoliate
It is recommended that you use an exfoliator that will penetrate deeper and help remove blackheads. You should exfoliate only 1-2 times a week; more often can dry your skin. Here's more about the product  Exfoliator

Step 3: Tone
Using an alcohol free toner will help restore the pH of the skin and remove any remaining oils and makeup. It also helps in minimizing the pore size and making the skin tone even. One can moisten a cotton ball and gently pat the toner over the face and neck.  Here's more about the product Toner.

Step 4: Moisturize
When you wash your face, you wash away essential oils and moisturizing your skin helps replenish it. Take an extra couple minutes and use a deep moisturizer on the extra dry areas of your body, such as elbows, knees, heels, hands and feet. An all natural serum is a good choice because they do not contain any chemicals or harsh additives. Using serum helps protect collagen, reduce redness and discoloration, and reduces age spots, fine lines, brown spots, and wrinkles Both serums and moisturizers help bring new cells to the surface revealing a smoother and softer complexion. Here's more about the product Serum

Establishing a nightly skin care routine will only take about five minutes of your time.  By implementing a nightly care routine, your skin will maintain a youthful appearance longer as well as staying smooth, soft, clear, and most importantly, healthy.

Name
Deepthi is my name and friends call me Deep.

More about myself

Hi, I am Deepthi Chetan, a mother of 4-year-old girl, it takes a lot to be called “my beautiful mom” from the angel who is as beautiful and gorgeous as god can create. With a busy lifestyle, in this small little world of my own, I try to create and develop my handmade products.

I am actually an Editor who turned to a homemaker in accordance to give my daughter utmost time and love. I was hardly left with any time for myself and especially my skin didn’t get any attention after my angel was born.  Soon she grew and started schooling and I had time for myself.

What do I do for living?
Budding entrepreneur. A multitasker trying to put my creativity to test.

Hobbies?
Apart from creating my products, I love to watch pencil sketch, cooking, baking and sometime I do watch a little bit of TV programs if time permits.

My beauty regime?
There was no word in my world called beauty regime till I met Deepika. Having known the importace of it, I have started up with cleansing, toning and moisturizing my daily (mostly during the  night). During the day I dab my skin with sunscreen (SPF 30 and SPF 50 on sunny days).

My favourite product?
So far all of Deepika’s products have been my favorites. Apart from her products I have been using Lotus herbals sunscreen and Neutrogena sunscreen. BB creams very rarely.

Beauty essentials in my handbag
Got to be Body mist by Deepika, Khol pencil, SPF lip balm, Sunscreens for sure.

My association with these products
Meeting  Deepika, I would say was purely a co-incidence and my luck.  I actually got what I was searching for in her; a good friend, a well-wisher, an advisor and over the top, she was a beauty expert who made her own products.  Later, I learnt that she was making her own beauty products which consist of oils and all-natural ingredients mostly available in kitchen. Well, that was hard to believe.  She then gave me a sample of her routine that she used that consists of mostly oils. I was very skeptical about using oils, as I have oily skin and breakouts every now and then.  But, I am happy that I tried it though.

Products that I’ve tried
Face care regime which consist of cleanser, toner, serum and facial scrub.
·         Hair tonic and hair oil.
·         Body scrub and body oil.
·         Eye serum
·         Lip tint (for kids)
·         Jelly soap (for kids)

My take on these beauty products
Firstly daily regime helped me clear my spots and tackle my pimple breakouts which was my major concern. Hair tonic again is a wonderful remedy for dandruff and hairfall issues.  Coffee scrubs softens ur elbows and rough areas. Eye serum is really wonderful products if you have a stressful lifestyle.  It eases out puffy eyes.  Lip tint is a wonderful innovation which stains the lip in a natural way. Bath jelly is a fun way to get your kids involved in bath. Bath oil substitutes the body lotion.

What more am I looking forward to
Body mist  and some products to help me with tanning problems

Step 4: Serum

This is the last step to the night regime.

Ageing is a fact of life but serums can combat the enemies of skin and halt the ageing process to keep complexion looking younger for longer. Whatever your concern-be it wrinkles, skin brightening or instant re-hydration the serum can help to a larger extent.

Faster and lighter are the qualities many of us look for in a car, laptop . They're also the attributes of skin care serums-light, fast absorbing liquids used as an alternative to creams or lotions. Just a few drops are super-efficient.

The serum I'm going to talk about today is oil based. Most of us know how good the oils are for the skin and every oil has its own goodness. This oil has mix of all the goodness of different oils. This homemade oil based serum is light but intense, works best as over-night treatment. Anyone can use it irrespective of skin type. Oily beauties need to take lesser quantity of serum.

Benefits:
  • Light and a little goes long way.
  • Quickly and deeply absorbed by skin.
  • Keeps the skin hydrated and supple.
  • Helps in smoothing fine lines on mature skin.
  • Reduces age spots.
  • Can be used as make-up remover.

How to use
Use it in the night before hitting bed.
After cleansing and toning your face, apply a pea-sized amount of serum, patting it evenly over skin with your finger. Next morning you'll wake up to hydrated and supple skin.

Step 3- Toning

Our skin needs a lot of things to stay hydrated, nourished, supple and young. You have your basic skincare routine, which consists of cleansing, exfoliating and drying properly. Even if you're providing everything your skin may need through nutrients, diet, proper cleansing and not seeing a noticeable difference in your skin, you may be leaving out an important step: toning.

Toning is an important part of beauty care regime. After cleansing, it is utmost important to tone face to absorb the excess oil from the surface of skin and remove the leftover traces of dirt and cleansers, settled on the face.

I began using this toner about a year back and saw noticeable improvement in my skin in just 10 days. I noticed my skin evened out significantly. My skin is softer and I have less dry and itchy red patches. I observed that many of my previouse breakouts were seemingly due to clogged pores and no matter how much I washed my face, I would still have that problem. This toner has been the answer I was looking for.

More about the product: This is a Apple cider vinegar based toner infused with Vitamin E. Totally natural, chemical free product. No side effects.
This concoction can help improve overall complexion by balancing and restoring skin's natural pH. When your pH levers are out of balance, that is when you break out. This toner helps in warding off bacteria and shedding dead skin cells so pores do not get clogged and skin remains healthy.

Benefits
  • Gently removed traces of cleanser and any trapped dirt.
  • Helps to prepare your skin to maximize the benefits of moisturizer.
  • Lightens sun and age spots.
  • Dissolves dead skin cells.
  • Balances the skin's pH.
  • Improves acne and acne scars.
  • Helps minimize appearance of pores.
How to use
After washing off face with oats cleanser pat dry. Apply this toner on face using cotton pad. Dab (no rubbing) all over face avoiding eye area. Now your skin is ready for moisturizer.

Step 2 - Exfoliating

Today i'm going to talk about my favourite part of skincare regime. Most of the scrubs available in the market are too harsh and i'm scared of using unknown things on my face. There began my search for my face scrub. I tried sugar scrub, coffee scrub and what not. Results were good initially but on prolong use i found them too harsh. I wanted something mild but effective. After a lot of research i stumbled upon this scrub which i customised to my needs.  Initially i was skeptical of it but when began using i'm like addicted to it.

I carry it in my handbag all the time. I use it whenever i feel i need a instant brightening.

More about the product: This is a salt based facial scrub. All natural no chemicals.

This homemade face scrub will gently exfoliate without drying the skin. It brightens the dull skin by removing dead skin.

How to use
After cleansing your face with Oats cleanser, wet your face and take just more than a pinch of this scrub and gently massage in circular motion. Avoid eye area and massage a little firm around nose, forehead and chin. Rinse your face with warm water and then, cold water. Thats all, you're done.

To be used twice a week.

Step 1 - Cleansing

Cleansing is the first step to skin care. Keep it simple. Do not use harsh products on skin, they can dry the skin and clog pores which beats the purpose of cleansing.

The cleanser i'm going to talk about is Oats based. I add turmeric to it which helps in scars and inflammation.

As using this cleanser can get a little messy you can use it in the night after removal of make-up.

I come across a lot of people who do not know the benefits of oats on skin and hair, listed a few below

  • Oats have been used as early as 2000BC by Egyptians in skin care.
  • Natural cleanser- mildly removes dirt and oil without causing irritation.
  • Skin moisturizer-penetrates deep into the skin layer.
  • Relieves itchiness.
  • Excellent treatment for acne.
  • Evens out skin tone by smoothing blotchy areas.
  • Beneficial in treatment for dandruff, itchy scalp, hair loss.

How to use: Take a tsp of cleanser in your palm and apply on wet face. Rub a little and massage in circular motion. Wash it off and you're done.

Happy Women's Day

Happy women's day to all the beautiful women out there. Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating womanhood.

Do share what you did you do to make this day special.

The beauty if a woman is
not in the clothes she wears,
the figure that she carries, or
the way she combs her hair
But..
The beauty of a woman must be
seen in her eyes, because that is
the doorway to her heart. The
place where love resides.

New beginning, excited!

My first post on blog, i'm so excited. This is the beginning to a blog where i'll share what i've learnt about of skin care and hair care the natural way.

I've been using natural ingredients for skin care and hair for years, thanks to my extra-sensitive skin that starts breaking on using any regular cream/lotion. This lead me to try various products before i came up with what works best. I benefited by using these products and over period they have helped me in dealing with my skin problems. I made these part of my daily routine and i'm glad i did. On requests I began making products for friends and people around and saw some amazing results. I been doing this as hobby till now and i think its time i take this further. You'll learn more about the range of products in my future posts. Stay tuned.

Different things work for different people. Something that suits one person may not suit all. A lot depends on skin type, lifestyle and diet. No tall claims of overnight miracles. These products take time but they work in the long run. For anybody looking for immediate results, these are not for you. These can be a boon if you believe in nature and persistent in usage. Plus point these are cruelty free.

Just to end this up here go the pics that were clicked on my first display of products at a fair organized by Euro kids school at Shankar mutt, Basaveshwarnagar in Bangalore. I was so overwhelmed with the response, very encouraging and made me more determined on this little mission.

Lastly heartfelt thanks to the people who made it there and special thanks to my friend Deepthi without whom i wouldn't have done it all.

If you bought the products, do give your feedback. I would love to hear from you guys.

Readers, thanks so much for taking time to be here with me. I hope we can explore beautiful world of natural beauty products.
